VSRC Research Mentorship Program

Brief Overview

The VSRC Research Mentorship Program (“Mentorship”) provides an easy, flexible and meaningful interaction between experienced Mentors with Mentees (dermatology residents, fellows, junior, and senior dermatology consultants).

The time investment of the Mentor is minimal with the Mentee managing and working within the Mentor’s schedule and needs. Mentorship is conducted via the web, by phone, in person, or a mixture of these. This flexibility allows participants to collaborate on innovative research ideas or clinical questions, in a manner that is productive and goal-oriented, yet convenient to Mentors and their busy schedules.

Goals

By linking Mentors with Mentees relatively new to the field of dermatological research, we aim to:

  1. Create a strong relationship that benefits: the Mentor (who gets the opportunity to influence the next generation of dermatological researchers, while being exposed to new, energetic ideas) and the Mentee (who is given access to the invaluable experience and wisdom of the Mentor).
  2. Encourage original and innovative dermatological research under the mentorship of leaders in the field.
  3. Create an environment wherein the ethics and standards of evidence-based dermatological research may be strengthened and advanced.
  4. Fulfill the vision of VSRC to create a new venue where the exchange of ideas enhances lives, improves communities, and enriches dermatology in developing nations.
  5. Continue a primary goal of VSRC to be the premier, doctor-to-doctor global community network and resource for curious, creative, driven, caring, and eager young dermatologists.
